[Major roads to Jena]

Jena is located in close proximity to the A4/A9 highway intersection "Hermsdorfer Kreuz". You reach the Max Planck Institute via Autobahn A4 from Frankfurt/Main to Dresden. Coming from Berlin/Leipzig or Munich/Nuremberg, take Autobahn A9 to Hermsdorfer Kreuz where you change to Autobahn A4, direction Frankfurt/Main.

From "Autobahn A4":
Get off the Autobahn A4 at the exit "Jena-Göschwitz" (#53). Turn left to Jena-Stadtmitte (downtown). Go straight ahead passing the residential area Jena-Winzerla (left) and the power station (right). After some 5 kilometers, the tramway tracks start running on the roadway. Continue straight ahead until the green steam pipes cross the street. Turn left into Sandweg immediately behind the steam pipe bridge. (When you reach the roundabout you have already gone too far and have to go back to "Sandweg".).

From Downton Jena:
Follow the signs to Jena-Winzerla. You will reach a roundabout. Leave the roundabout in direction Jena-Winzerla. Some 200 meters after the tramway tracks have started to run on the roadway, turn right into Sandweg in front of the green steam pipes bridging the street.

You may park your car at the parking lot which you will find to the right, once you have turned into the street Sandweg. Further information will be provided to you at the check in and registration.
