Location
The guest rooms and apartments are located on the Institute's premises, above the library. The MPI of Economics was built in a park-like garden, approximately 20-25 minutes from the train stations Jena Paradies and Jena West.
Restaurants and shopping opportunities
The city center can be reached by foot in about 20-25 minutes. Here, several restaurants can be found, especially on Wagnergasse or the Marktplatz. The malls Goethegalerie and Neue Mitte offer numerous shopping opportunities. A city map can be found on the Institute's website.
Guest rooms and prices
The MPI of Economics has 13 guest rooms and apartments, including six single rooms (24 m²), six double rooms with separate living area, bedroom and a small kitchenette (40 m²), as well as one guest apartment with separate kitchen, living area and bedroom (50 m²).

The rooms can be equipped with an additional bed for an additional fee of 5 Euro. All prices include tax (7%). Smoking is prohibited in the whole institute.

Room amenities and service
Every apartment is equipped with a shower/toilet, radio and an alarm clock, towels and bed linen will be provided. Guest rooms are cleaned once a week (on Monday or Wednesday), including linen change. For additional towels please contact the reception desk. The receptionist gives out a hair dryer and washing powder for laundry if needed. (Opening hours of the reception desk: Monday – Thursday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Friday 8:00 am – 3:30 pm). The laundry room is located in Room U10 of the basement and has both a washing machine and a laundry dryer. German and English magazines and newspapers can be read in the library.
Arrival
The rooms can be deployed from 2.00 pm onwards. Keys are handed out at the reception, or (if you arrive outside the opening hours of the reception) through the key-box-system. In that case, you will receive a code by email (request a code at ).
Important: Without key-code, there will be no possibility to get your room key. In that case you cannot use your guest room!
Guest kitchen
A fully equipped guest kitchen (with flat screen TV) can be found on the first floor of the guest area in Room 129. This kitchen can be opened with the guest room key.
Cafeteria
Breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages are provided in our cafeteria in the villa basement. Please inform the leaseholder Mrs. Schnorr (, Tel. -935) about your plans to eat there.
Opening Hours: Monday-Friday: 8.00 am - 10.00 am and 12.00 am - 2.00 pm.
Internet access
If you bring your own notebook:
During your stay, you are able to access the Internet with your notebook by using a network cable (a 10 or 100 Mbit Ethernet-card or –port at your notebook is needed). The appropriate connection cables in the rooms are marked with a red "guest" label. Wireless access is available in some parts of the institute, but not in the guest apartments. Further settings concerning network connections and proxy server can be found in the leaflet folder provided in the rooms. For questions please contact the IT department, Mr. Brückner (Tel. -911).
Without a notebook:
The library offers a web terminal during opening hours (Monday-Thursday: 8.00 am - 6.00 pm, Friday 8.00 am - 4.00 pm).
Another guest computer is located in the guest room of the IT department (first floor of the villa). To use this guest computer, please register per phone (03641-686 911) or per mail ().
Departure and payment
On the day of your departure, please leave the guest room by 11:00 am and return the keys at the reception desk in the villa. If your departure is on the weekend or outside business hours, please leave the key on the table in the guest room. You will receive your invoice prior to departure, or either by mail or E-Mail. Payment can be made via bank transfer (details on the invoice) or in cash. The cashier is open Monday - Thursday 9.00 am - 3.00 pm, Friday 9.00 am - 2.00 pm. Outside opening hours, an appointment can be made by phone. Credit cards, EC cards or foreign currencies cannot be accepted.
